What is the Secret to Success?
What separates leaders from followers? How are extremely successful people different from those who are content to continue on their path of just getting by in life? What drives us to take action, or no action?
The answer to these questions is the same.
In the time that I have been coaching, I have worked with all kinds of people. I have had the privilege of working with extremely intellectual, creative, wealthy, educated, and talented individuals who all had one thing in common. They were unable to figure out how to take their life to the next level. What was stopping them? What is stopping so many of us from making tremendous progress in any aspect of our life?
Whenever someone tells me about their problem, it’s never actually the real problem. There is always something deeper that’s preventing them from progress, and leaving them with that universal feeling of being “stuck”.
What is the real problem you ask? I’m going to tell you. The only thing holding any of us back from accomplishing any one thing in our life is our mindset. Whether or not we blieve we can or cannot accomplish something, it's true. It always amazes me the lies that people are able to convince themselves of out of fear.
Learning how to recognize your own limiting beliefs could be the key to making the shift from mediocrity to extreme success.
Some of the most common limiting beliefs are:
· What if I fail?
· What if I succeed?
· I don’t have the time
· I don’t have the money/resources
· It’s too hard
· I’m not good enough
· I’m not educated/experienced enough
· I’m too old
· It’s already been done
· If I do it, no one will buy/participate/invest
If you want to have a shot at creating more success in all areas of your life, you need to start to become aware of your language patterns. Any time you “can’t” do something, you have to ask yourself if you really can’t do it, or is this just an excuse? Good excuses are our way of remaining blocked.
If you believe your inaction is for a legitimate reason that cannot be worked around, I challenge you to ask yourself another question.
Is it true?
Is there absolutely no possible way that any human could ever accomplish what it is that you want, given your circumstances? You may come up with a different answer this time. Maybe you think someone else could accomplish it, but for some reason you still can’t. This is why most people keep from going after what it is they want. Our belief systems are very powerful. They are the deciding factor in not only what we will accomplish in our life, but if we will enjoy the process.
So what’s holding you back?
….Is it true?
